2nd/3rd Grade Newcomer - Alarcon, Maiwes
|
About Me: Hello everyone! My name is Maiwes Alarcon, the students call me Mrs. Alarcon. I grew up in Granada (southern Spain) and I live in San Mateo. I received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Granada, then I studied two Master's Degrees in Special Education and Bilingual Education at the University of Madrid. This is my first year teaching at Garfield Community School and my second year teaching 2nd and 3rd graders (newcomers). I chose to be a part of GCS because I believe that each and every student deserves to have the same opportunities as the rest of their peers. That is why, I teach newcomers to help them integrate into our educational system satisfactorily. In my classroom, I prioritize teaching ELD because my students need to learn the language. I also hope to help students develop Spanish literacy, because learning to read and write in one's native language is the key to academic success. I believe that all students will develop socially, emotionally, physically, and academically as it is Garfield's vision. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the school team E-mail address: malarconamador@rcsdk8.net
