About Me:

Hello! My name is Olivia Manzanares. I grew up in the Bay Area and I live in San Mateo, CA. I received my bachelor’s degree and my teaching credential at San Francisco State University. This is my first year teaching at Garfield Community School. I have chosen to be part of the GCS because I want to serve a community that I can connect to culturally.  In our classroom, I plan on teaching students topics that I was not taught in elementary school such as social justice, environmentalism, and social-emotional learning. I also hope to support students in STEAM because I want to inspire and engage students with hands-on activities. I believe that all students have the right to an authentic education and I will do so in teaching students current events and about other cultures around the world.
