4th/5th Grade Newcomer - Aguilera, Alma

About Me:

Hello! My name is Alma Aguilera. I grew up in Los Angeles and I live in Redwood City. I received my bachelor’s degree at Mount St. Mary’s College with an emphasis in ECE and my teaching credential is currently in process from Notre Dame in Belmont. This is my first year teaching at Garfield Community School and my 2nd year teaching 4th grade and 1st year teaching 5th. I have chosen to be part of the GCS because I feel connected to the community and its rich emphasis in bilingual education where I can bring my own home language and put it into practice. In our classroom, I plan to do many hands-on activities in most academic areas such as Math and Language Arts to include all different ways of learning. I also hope to support students and parents in every possible way in the classroom and outside of class because they are in school to learn, feel safe, and feel welcoming. I believe that all students have a talent to practice at school and a voice in the classroom to feel part of this community. I will encourage every student to participate so their voices can be heard.

Thank you for taking the time to read something about me and I am looking forward to meeting new people at GCS.
