8th grade Math/SCI - Fung, Rachelle

About Me:

Hello! My name is Rachelle Fung. I grew up in Texas and I live in San Mateo. I received my bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin and my teaching credential at the UTeach program at UT Austin, as well as a Master’s in Education at Houston Baptist University. This is my 2nd year teaching at Garfield Community School and my 1st year teaching 8th grade (though I started teaching 15 years ago in Texas). I have chosen to be part of the GCS because I love the students, staff, and bilingual community. In our classroom, I plan on building a thinking classroom of students who take an active role in their learning and contribute to collaborative teams. I also hope to support students in their social-emotional learning because both academics and SEL are important for high schoolers and beyond. 

I believe that all students can succeed with the right support, and I will do my best to support them and advocate for them. Thank you for taking the time to get to know the teachers at GCS!
